Hello! My name is Mariia, and I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College studying Economics with a secondary in Theatre, Dance, and Media. As an international student from Ukraine, I have personally experienced the application process to U.S.-based universities and understand its hidden hurdles. Despite its complexity, I am passionate about helping students enjoy this process as much as possible by tutoring, specifically SAT and IELTS, as well as essay writing and general college consulting. Considering English isn't my native language, and I was still able to achieve an SAT score of 1570 and an IELTS score of 8.0, I firmly believe an improved score depends not just on usual topics such as vocabulary and time management but on understanding the core logic behind each exam. Learning the objectives behind each type of question is the approach I teach my students because it allows them to work through problems comfortably while still finding the correct answer to each question.
As a tutor, I have successfully guided students through university applications, securing grants from top institutions like Harvard, Dartmouth, and Brown. Martin Bigil-Rico is a Sophomore at Harvard studying Computer Science and Statistics. Hi! My name is Jenna Jiang and I'm currently a student at Harvard College studying Government. Although Government is a field that I am extremely passionate and interested in, I have another passion for education. For the last two years, I sat on the Illinois Board of Education Student Advisory council where I was elected as an executive council member my first year and then later on as President. Within my position, I learned to write policies and bills where I would advocate for them along with my peers to the Board. In addition to sitting on the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council, I also sit on two other councils where I was elected by the State Superintendent as the sole student advisor ranging from rural advisory to student equity.
Through my experience in education and policy writing, I have been able to help launch and manage educational initiatives helping progress missions from bridging the gap between ESL students and English to expanding access for rural students. In these opportunities, I have been able to meet and interact with so many individuals that has helps shaped my perspective. In addition, I have been a tutor/mentor for the last three years teaching anything from SAT to essay writing. At Harvard, I am apart of the Harvard Civics program where I enter the classroom once a week to teach Civics education. They attended Basic Academy of International Studies where she broke the district record for highest Grade Point Average (GPA).
